Phyno He has captured my heart', gospel singer reveals

Sandra Ifudu
The singer, who came second in the 2015 edition of the Next Movie Star reality TV show, revealed that she plans to pay more attention to her music career.
"I like Davido. I think he is amazing. I also like Phyno. He has captured my heart. Dare Art-Alade is awesome… Yes! I would love to work with them, including Asa", she said.
Her admiration for Phyno however does not to seem enough to spur Ifudu in respect to dating, as the singer mentioned that she will like to focus on her music career for the time being.

According to her, men are a distraction that she want to avoid in a bid to drive her profession to the elite class.
"I don’t have a boyfriend and I am not looking for one at the moment. I don’t want unnecessary distractions at this early stage of my career, so I am putting my career before boys."

The singer is the niece of legendary singer, Dora Ifudu, who made a great impression on Nigerian entertainment in the 80's and 90's.
Sandra, who is a runner-up of the 2015 edition of the Next Movie Star reality TV show once revealed in an interview with Vanguard News that she aspires to be better than her aunt.

Police Rescued 10-year-old Girl who Was Chained for 2 days for Allegedly Stealing N4,000

Promise
Promise
The police in Ogun state has rescued a 10-year-old girl, Promise who was allegedly chained by the woman she was living with, Chiamaka Okafor at a house in the Saraki, Adigbe area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to PUNCH, she was chained for two days (Wednesday and Thursday) before she was rescued by the Police at 7PM (Thursday).
Promise told police that her boss (who is her aunt, according to the report), chained her for allegedly stealing N4,000.
According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police spokesperson in the state:
We had an information that the girl was chained to a burglarproof window at an uncompleted building at Adigbe area and this led our men to the scene.
The girl told us that it was her aunt who chained her on the allegation that she stole a sum of N4,000. The woman is now on the run, while her husband, who is an accomplice, has been arrested and he is helping us in our investigation.
Oyeyemi said Chiamaka fled the house on sighting the police, leaving behind her four children, including a 6-month old baby.
Omotoyosi Odu, a tenant at the house said:
At a point, when the girl was chained to the window in the kitchen, she was crying out to me that I should please give her food. Other neighbours too heard her cry.
Then the landlords had left home for their shop at Pansheke Market. Later, the girl was moved to the boys’ quarters and chained again. Some of us tried to intervene but she warned us to steer clear, because it was none of our business.
Oyeyemi added that the Commissioner of Police, IIiyasu Ahmed, has ordered a manhunt for the fleeing woman in order to bring her to justice, so as to serve as deterrent to others.
“The matter is under investigation and the police is after Chiamaka Okafor. As soon as we complete the investigation, they will be charged to court,” Oyeyemi added.
Promise has been moved to the welfare home, Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home, Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.

Actress Toyin Aimakhu Clears Her Name In Alleged #Savemayowa Scam

Toyin-Aimahku-NL1

Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimahku, has denied allegations connecting her to an alleged fund-raising scam for the operation of Ahmed Mayowa, a lady diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.
Aimahku has in a video gone viral appealed to well meaning Nigerians, in a bid to raise a sum of 100,000 dollars for the treatment of the patient.
Toyin-Aimahku-NL2
Things appeared promising, as donations came in to support the invalid, who was admitted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
Unfortunately, unconfirmed stories started making the news rounds, accusing Aimahku of being part of an organised fraud.
The actress in an Instagram comment posted on Friday, July 29, 2016, has denied the accusation.
Toyin-Aimahku-NL3
She wrote,
“In view of the recent happenings around Mayowa Ahmed’s ill health and the many allegations of fraud surrounding the funds raised, it has become imperative that I come clean by stating my side of the story and by implications, set the record straight.
“When I got wind of Mayowa’s sickness, I was moved to tears and immediately sought to know how I could help, hence my on-the-spot video which went viral as my genuine intervention.
“Indeed, I was overwhelmed by the quick response of well-meaning Nigerians to whom I will forever owe a debt of gratitude. But all this changed yesterday, Thursday 28th, July, when I went to the hospital in the morning to check as well as follow up on Mayowa. Her brother had told everyone to leave them alone because they wanted privacy. Although I was shocked at the sudden change in attitude, especially the tone of communication, I still did not suspect anything was amiss.
“However, on my way out, I received a call from one Aramide Kasumu of Life Stake Foundation, who would later claim the whole Mayowa Ahmed fund raiser was a scam. Importantly, she wanted to know the extent of my involvement and in her words, “so that when they are giving their reports, I would not be roped into it”. She went further to state that the family deceived everyone in the first place by raising funds for Mayowa despite the fact that her case was helpless and the hopes of her survival was near impossible. She seemed to know so much, I reckoned.
“Upon hearing this, I was appalled and in a bid to clear my name, I went back to the hospital in palpable anger and demanded explanations from all concerned. Perhaps, I overreacted when I went into a rage of anger over the matter with the CSO. I then alerted the Police PRO, who invited the parties involved to the police command.
“I want to state for the record that I have never been a fraud and will never partake in one, not even at this stage of my career (which I hold to heart). All my efforts were strictly on humanitarian grounds without recourse to any pecuniary consideration or the resort to cheap fame.
“That said, whatever discomfort my reactions may have cost anyone from any quarters is highly regretted and I take responsibility.
“Whilst I wish Mayowa a quick recovery and divine intervention, I want to urge us as a people to continue to exhibit that enviable Nigerian spirit of compassion and generosity and not because of this isolated case cease to be our sister/brother’s keeper. I love you all and thank you.”
Toyin Aimahku has built a reputation for her unique compassion for the downtrodden in the society.
Her spirit of compassion for the weak and disadvantaged was manifested earlier in 2016, when she showed concern for an actor who wanted to commit suicide.
She was seen in a video appealing to the actor to abandon his intentions, in an ocean of tears.

President Buhari Approves Governing Council, Board in Ogoniland

President BuhariPresident Muhammadu Buhari has approved a 13-member Governing Council and 10-member Board of Trustees (BOT), for the cleanup of Ogoniland in Rivers.
The Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed, announced this in statement given to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), by Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Bukar Hassan, in Abuja on Saturday.
The minister said the structures will ensure inclusiveness, accountability, transparency and sustainability of the exercise.

Mohammed acknowledged the concerns raised by stakeholders on the perceived slow pace of the clean up, saying “Nigerians have a right to voice their concerns”, but called for patience.
“We have responsibility to deliver. The launch was the first step in a 30-year journey. We continue to make strides toward the implementation. We ask for patience as we lay solid foundations for the cleanup. The context is complex and stakeholders are diverse. All must be taken along”, Mohammed said.
According to her, Buhari remains steadfast in his conviction to see Ogoniland and other parts of the Niger Delta cleaned up.

She said the ministry was working with the Ministries of Petroleum Resources, Niger Delta, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and key stakeholders in implementing the UNEP report.
The minister said the exercise was a collective responsibility and urged all the Niger Delta communities, especially the Ogonis, to support the remediation and restoration efforts of government.
The UN report estimated that the cleanup of Ogoniland could take up to 30 years with the initial remediation taking five years and the restoration another 25 years.

President Buhari inaugurated the clean up on June 2 at Bodo in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers.

EFCC Arraigns Ex- Ebonyi Council and Two Others for N25m Fraud in Ebonyi State

The suspects

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, arraigned the former Coordinator of Afikpo South Local Government Development Center of Ebonyi state, Hon. Ugwuocha Okoroafor, before Justice E.A. Ngene of the State High Court, Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
Okoroafor was arraigned alongside his Treasurer, Christian Chukwu Owo and the Administrative Officer, Anne Eke Agwuon a 15-count charge of conspiracy and stealing of public funds totalling over N25,000,000.00

Okoroafor and his alleged co-conspirators were said to have at various times between 2013 and 2015 raised vouchers for payments ranging from contract awards, salaries and independence day celebrations in the names of staff of the development centre. The staff denied that they authorized such vouchers or received such funds.

Investigation into the matter which was reported by Center for Prevention of Corruption and Human Right Initiatives and some staff of the development centre revealed that the accused persons padded their salaries and those of other staff above the approved limits with the connivance of a staff of the bank where the local Government is domiciled.

The sum of N16, 000,000 and N8,000,000 were at different times traced to the accused person’s account which upon interrogation, could not justify the source.

She Leads Africa: Find Out How You Can Overcome 5 Common Challenges Associated with Starting Up a Business

dreamstime_m_631335
You’ve started a business, probably one that’s 6 months old. You’ve achieved the significant part of your dreams but what to do when your business becomes a stubborn child?
Whatever you do, don’t look it in the eyes or try to confront directly. We’ve got ways to overcome some common challenges associated with start-ups to help.

Finances
This is a broad category that I will break down into capital, cash flow and frugality.
When it comes to capital, the source that you pick matters. Going along with family and friends will definitely be easier but may not challenge you to see little gaps in your business plan. Unless of course, your family or friends are well versed with the business world. Considering an investor or venture capitalist that funds start-ups would be a good way to go about it. Investors have prerequisites and question aspects of the business plan prior to the receipt of the capital. This in turn builds a certain level of confidence as you start out.
Savings are another option that can keep you out of debt initially. But whatever you do, ensure you have passed the plan through mentors in business who can analyze your business plan and anticipate any red flags. So will it be Aunt Kabuga, an independent investor or savings? Your pick.
In terms of cash flow, tracking revenue versus expenses is paramount. Even without extreme accounting expertise, it is important to track your books of account…what you pay suppliers, employees, your sales team and what you are raking in return as revenue and eventually attain as profit.
Frugality as an overall pointer of finances cannot be overemphasized. When starting out, you are essentially bootstrapping to keep expenses on the low. Find affordable suppliers, use wise but pocket-friendly sales tactics, and cut down on luxuries.

Market research
I find that this is one of the most underrated business issues. We are living in a world of massive data yet, many businesses fail to do their homework well before starting out. You may have the big business idea figured but you must be willing to anticipate and forecast market trends. Or else, you could end up building the business in your head than at the actual marketplace.
Research involves a variety of mechanics and even better, a combination of these mechanics. You will need some hours on the computer and in some cases, may have to buy data to check on competitor information. The target market will be your next best source of information. You need to sell something that people need. Sometimes, people don’t know what they need till you sell it to them, so you could check on that too. Research also involves anticipating various changes that could affect the business and mitigating against such.

Prioritization
Do you build a fancy website, set up a cool office hub or start out by working from home? A number of businesses are encumbered by unnecessary expenses as they set up shop because they lose focus on priorities.
A detailed business plan will map out areas that need fundamental attention and those that can be invested in later. Otherwise, you will keep having revenue that you can’t amounts to nothing. It also helps to frequently ask the question, “If I were to eliminate one thing in my business right now, what would it be?”
Prioritization also depends on your principal motive of starting the business. Were you genuinely seeking to make money by serving a need in society or were you escaping the 8 to 5 employment vortex? The former is a lot more solid and while the latter is valid too, you might be surprised that as you start out your business, you need an 8 to 8.

Pricing
The way a business prices its commodities when starting out is critical. Many proprietors price too low initially and do so emotionally. After the low penetration price, the business begins to crawl weakly and are forced to effect a surge which consumers may not have anticipated. It then becomes harder to gain loyalty. Pricing rationally and suffering from an initial low market share would have been much easier. As Maya Angelou said, “Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it.”
Besides, only you can relate to the hours you put into the business. Therefore, charge accordingly, not desperately or emotionally.

The one-man guitar show
Are you taking on too many roles that you need help? This can take on a heavy toll on your business. While it’s alright that initially you are the strategist, salesman, accountant and admin, consider getting some professional help once in a while. When you can afford some more, hire great talent to sort you out. The two important aspects you really need to consider, especially if they are not your core specialization, are legal and accounting expertise.
Too much time in business could make some relations suffer as you play a one-man guitar show. You also need to maintain your support network of family and friends.
We wish you success in all your businesses as you work through the challenges and would love to get your thoughts and contribution on the topic!
