The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), says it has mobilised about 15,000 youths to welcome President Buhari at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, from vacation. President Buhari is expected to return to Nigeria on February 6, following a 10-day vacation in London. Malam Gambo Jagindi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President of NYCN, Murtala Gamji, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja. Jagindi call on Nigerian youths, who are the future leaders of the country to show love, solidarity and support for the President.
“The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has concluded arrangements to mobilise not less than 15,000 of its members to be at Abuja airport on Feb. 6, to welcome President Buhari from vacation.
“It is on record that integrity, discipline and honesty are gradually returning to our public life unlike in the past when impunity was the order of the day. We all know that they do not have the interest of our country at heart and are only wishing to carry on with the looting of our treasury in the absence of our president."
While commending the president’s efforts to rid the country of undesirable elements who did not mean well for Nigeria and Nigerians, Jagindi urged Buhari to continue with the good work as the youths of Nigeria were solidly behind him. He noted that in spite of the “corrupt mafias’’ working to undermine the anti-corruption war, Nigerian youths under NYCN would continue to support Buhari’s laudable programmes.
Comedian, Klint Da Drunk's wife, Lilien has declare her support for the protest against the government on Feb 6th which is led by Tuface. She revealed that even though she was fan of former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, she supported the 'Occupy Nigeria protest which made the government reduced the proposed price for petroleum products. "I am a fan of GEJ because he was a Democrat and pushed for peace and Unity but I was angry with him when the fuel price was increased without taking into consideration the masses and the way it was introduced without informing people. I condemned the move and protested against the price hike. I was not happy with him because it was a failing of the government to respond to the needs of the people and cushion the effect of rampant poverty.
"The occupy Nigeria movement humiliated the government and made Gej reduce the price. Although it didn't go back to 65 Naira but our voices and activities against an unpopular decision made the government listen. That's what protest can do. I did not sit back because I was a massive GEJ fan or friend of Pdp rather it was my duty to whip the government back to shape to fulfill it's promise to the people and stop impoverishing them. That is what citizens must do to make their leaders accountable whether you support them or not. Government officials derive their powers from the people and it's the people that would force them to conform.
Now another occupy Nigeria is in front of us with the 2face backed rally on February 6th. With GEJ it was about the fuel hike and corruption in high places. With Buhari I don't even know where to start. Is it the hypocrisy of his anti corruption crusade or the lack of foresight on how to move the country forward? Is it the prevailing hunger killing everybody or a government that continues to destroy the economy but satisfies itself with blames and excuses? Buhari's economic sins are endless and it's making Gej's occupy Nigeria look like child's play.
This February 6th rally is long over due and if you are a true patriot it's necessary to come out enmass to let your voices be heard. It matters not if you are a Pdp or Apc supporter. Your wallet and stomach knows no party. Your generator and car fuel tank knows no party. Your kitchen gas or stove knows no party. The forex exchange that did not pass N215 since 1960 but has shot up to N500 in 18months under Buhari knows no party. It affects all of us whether yoruba, Ibo, hausa, ijaw, urhobo, fulani, efik etc.
The more you keep quiet and support a government that does not care the more the economy weakens because Buhari has not seen the anger and hunger affecting us. He increased fuel to 145 from 97 Naira but we kept quiet. Price of diesel has shot up 200% but we kept quiet. Forex increased from 215 to 300 but we kept quiet. It increased from 300 to 400 but we kept quiet. It has increased to 500 but some people are still saying I stand with Buhari. At what point in time would you sit down with Buhari? Is it when your family is starving and you are begging for crumbs with the forex at 1000 to a dollar? Right now the economy is stagnant but no reprieve anywhere.
Cost of living has increased but salaries have remained the same. If you run a business your cost of maintaining that business has increased 1000% fold but you are generating the same 2015 income or less. If you are working for a company, you work harder but your salary has remained the same since 2015 but your daily expenses has shot up 1000%. Where we put on this earth to suffer and stagnate or to move forward? Let's not talk about the millions that have been sacked because Oga cannot pay salaries or bills anymore. Has Buhari thought of how these people are surviving without any help or assistance? That's why people had to run to MMM to survive. If there was progress economically would millions of people throw their savings into it. This government does not give a rat ass about anybody. You are on your own.

Riot
started on Monday, January 31, on Mojeed street, Igando Lagos, when a
40-year-old Hausa trader, Ibrahim Adamu, allegedly killed a bus driver,
Lekan Adeleke.
Residents and family of the deceased reportedly blocked the street, made bon fire and chased Hausa traders out of the area.
According
to a report by ThePunch, trouble started when the deceased had bought
noodles worth N230 from the suspect’s son on Sunday, January 29, around
10.30pm.
He was reported to have paid N200 and
promised to pay the balance of N30 the following day, which did not go
down well with the suspect’s son.
The son allegedly reported to his father, Adamu, who became angry and attacked the 30-year-old Adeleke with a spiked plank.
The victim reportedly slumped and hit his head against the concrete edge of a gutter in the area.
A friend of the victim, Kehinde Akinduro, said Adamu had a kiosk where
he sold confectioneries, while the son sold noodles beside the kiosk.
He explained that Adeleke had actually paid the balance of N30 to the suspect’s son.
He said: “He
was joking with the boy that despite being a customer, he went and
reported him to his father. They started abusing each other. At this
time, the son was already preparing noodles for me on the instruction of
Adeleke.
“The next thing I saw
was that Adamu, who was eavesdropping, brought out a spiked plank and
hit Adeleke with it. I cautioned him, but he faced me and hit me in the
leg. I sustained some injuries.
“When
Adeleke saw that he could no longer handle the situation, he took to
his heels. But the man followed him and hit him in the head as he tried
to jump the gutter. He fell and hit his head against the edge of the
gutter.
“When Adamu saw that he
had become unconscious, he took him into his kiosk and poured water on
his head. He was doing this when a large number of residents stormed the
place. When he sighted them, he abandoned the man and took to his
heels.”
He said the suspect, speaking in Hausa, asked his son to flee in another direction.
“The boy escaped, but we were able to get Adamu. We called the police and handed him over to them.”
The mob was said to have destroyed Adamu’s kiosk and set it on fire after Adeleke died around 12am on Monday.
The police public relations officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said investigations were ongoing.
She said: “It
was a case of murder. One Adamu used a plank to hit a bus driver,
Adeleke, in the head which led to his death. The corpse was deposited in
the Mainland General Hospital morgue for autopsy."
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has explained how it intercepted and seized a massive weapons haul of 661 brand new pump-action rifles in Lagos state.
In
a press statement delivered by the Comptroller-General of NCS Hameed
Ali at a briefing in Lagos on Monday, January 30, the outfit said the
guns were intercepted on Sunday, January 22.
The statement read: "On
Sunday 22nd January 2017, the Roving Team of the NCS Federal Operations
Unit while on information patrol intercepted a Mack truck with
registration number BDG 265 XG conveying a 1x40ft Container with Number:
PONU/825914/3along Mile 2 Apapa road."
A man from Ondo State got married to an elderly white woman at the Federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos on Saturday January 21, 2017.
According to Chris Ayo Joseph, Editor-in-Chief of Redsheet Magazine, the man has two children unknown to the new wife because, Chris allegedly overheard two kids calling him "Daddy..Daddy", and the man replied in Yoruba: "E ma pe mi ni daddy mo, se e ti gbo". Those were the words of this young man while receiving a phone call, just after tying the knot with this white woman at the Ikoyi registry earlier today.
Apparently, I was meant to understand that such thing happens almost everyday at the registry. Young Nigerian men come in with different foreign "oldie mama youngie's", all for the Paper's and the Chedda. It's more a like trend!
Obviously, the desire to get a “by-fire-by-force green card” has really blinded alot of Nigerian men or how else does one explain why a 32 year old man would bring home a foreign grandmother for marriage without the elderly in his family berating him.
Honestly, I thought the Yoruba has got culture. What has happened? Because the man in question is a Yoruba man, from Ondo State precisely. As a matter of fact, i was also rightly informed that the young man is married with two kids. Guess, his wife travelled or something, but his kids were present at the court wedding.
